BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix

A typically colossal mix of euphoric techno
— DJ Mag

A DJ since the age of 14, when she was resident at her father’s club outside São Paulo, ANNA is no newcomer. But she made a great leap forward in 2018, topping and tailing the year with ‘Hidden Beauties’ on Kompakt and her remix of Jon Hopkin’s ‘Singularity.’ She’s quickly climbed the DJ ranks with her thumping yet melodic style of techno. And her debut Essential Mix features some of her own unreleased material alongside tracks from Slam, Wehbba and Josh Wink.

With ANNA on the decks, something new and transcendent is bound to be discovered
— Dancing Astronaut

For my Essential Mix I’ve chosen tracks from artists who inspired me since I’ve been playing for these almost 20 years, also some of my own tracks that had a big impact in my career and some unreleased stuff from myself as well.

I come from a small town in the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil. Where I come from there was no electronic music at all, so when I started DJing, if I wanted to listen to it I had to travel for 3 hours to São Paulo but even then I couldn’t get into the clubs as I was only 14 years old.

The Essential Mix for me was always a way to learn about new music and find inspirations from the best in electronic music. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from, you can achieve anything you want in life, you are the only one who can set limits for yourself. Follow your dreams and do everything with love.
